Japanese computers until the mid 1990s were a weird parallel universe compared to what we had in the West. PCs in Japan often had an intense focus on being multimedia machines, and tended to have unsurpassed music capabilities. Some systems even doubled as game consoles. This talk will go through several popular Japanese systems and how they differ from systems many of us grew up with in the West, and include some crazy demos from the most popular systems.
