On April 5th of 2019, the furry community lost beloved member Tony "Dogbomb" Barrett to ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a disease known for being incurable, untreatable, and difficult to diagnose. Yet despite the hardship this caused, Tony was a relentless force for good who drove both awareness and funding for the study of his condition, alongside his endless love for furry culture and respect for the people within it. So just how far have we come in the time since he left us? Where Are We Now?
This educational panel serves two purposes - first, to recognize and celebrate the life of a beloved fandom member who worked tirelessly to spread love, joy, and hope; and second, to dig deeper into the disease behind his passing, and share the advancements in medical science that have unlocked new knowledge into how it works...and perhaps even how it could be solved.
